Real Madrid provide Bellingham, Camavinga fitness updates

Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has provided a return timeline for injured duo Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga ahead of this weekend’s meeting with Real Sociedad.

Bellingham underwent a planned shoulder surgery after the Club World Cup this summer and was initially expected to remain sidelined until at least October. However, he has now resumed light training on the grass as he edges closer to a full recovery.

“I want to be a bit optimistic, and hope that [Bellingham] can be back before October,” Alonso told a press conference.

“He’s started to do some things with the group, without contact because we still have to protect the shoulder. But Jude has made a great effort in his recovery.

“He feels very good. Not for [the game] tomorrow, but let’s see if next week he can take steps forward, he can train more normally like any other player. When we feel good, him above all, we’re waiting for him.”

Bellingham will miss Saturday’s clash with Real Sociedad and the opening Champions League fixture against Marseille, but his return could come in the following La Liga games.

Espanyol on matchday 5 may arrive too soon, though Madrid’s trip to Levante on matchday 6 looks more realistic. The England international will definitely be eager to return for the derby against Atletico Madrid on matchday 7.

Meanwhile, French International midfielder, Eduardo Camavinga, who suffered a shin injury back in August has seen his recovery pushed back, ruling him out against Sociedad as well, though Madrid remain hopeful he will be back in action very soon.

“[Camavinga] can be with the squad soon, if there are no setbacks,” Alonso declared.
