Former Real Madrid midfielder Guti Hernandez has urged teenage striker Endrick to consider his options if his lack of playing time continues under manager Xabi Alonso.
The 18-year-old Brazilian, who joined Los Blancos amid huge expectations, is yet to make a single appearance this season despite being named in several matchday squads.
While Alonso has insisted Endrick’s chance will come, Guti believes regular football should take priority.
“If he doesn’t get any opportunities between now and December, I think his best option is to leave so he can continue to grow,” Guti told DAZN via Real Madrid Confidencial.
“For a young player, the best thing is to get playing time. There are always injuries and moments where the coach bets on you, but that doesn’t seem to be his priority right now.”
The Madrid legend noted that Alonso currently prefers forwards like Rodrygo, Brahim Diaz and Gonzalo Garcia, who played significant roles for Los Blancos during this summer’s Club World Cup campaign.
Reports in Spain suggest Real Madrid are open to a possible loan deal in January to help Endrick gain valuable experience, though the player and his camp are reportedly reluctant, trusting that his moment at the Bernabeu will come.
Endrick’s situation is in stark contrast with that of Estevao Willian, his former Palmeiras teammate, who appears to be settling nicely into life at Chelsea following his summer move.
While Estevao, who recently bagged a late winner against Liverpool, is thriving in London, Endrick’s path in Madrid remains uncertain and the next few months could define how fast the young striker’s European career takes flight.
