Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has admitted that the club’s defeats since his arrival last year have affected him deeply.
The Portuguese manager joined the Red Devils in November 2024 from Sporting Lisbon, replacing Erik Ten Hag who was dismissed due to poor performance level.
However, results did not improve in the league as they ended up in 15th place, although they reached the final of the Europa League where they lost 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur
In the current campaign, there has been signs of improvement, but the 40-year-old has often been criticized for his preferred 3-4-2-1 formation.
Man United are currently sixth on the standings, having amassed 25 points from their opening 15 matches and are just six points off neighbors Manchester City in second spot.
“Until I’m here, I’m the guy that suffers more, believe it or not, with the defeats and draws of Manchester United”, Amorim admitted.
“I want to be able to change things and to try to do everything that I [have] said, especially to the board and to the players, and try to do it.”
Manchester United welcome Bournemouth to the Old Trafford on Monday night, hoping to build on their impressive 4-1 win over Wolves in midweek.
However, Ruben Amorim’s side must be wary of the threat posed by the Cherries, led by Antoine Semenyo who could swap sides in the January transfer window.
The Red Devils are also winless in the last four matches between both sides, while their last home win in this clash was over two years ago.
“Because you cannot promise results, but sometimes it’s getting harder not to think about football at home.
“I think that is normal. Because you are thinking that I can be at that level”, the Portuguese added.
