Pep Guardiola keen to remain at Man City amid exit speculations

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has expressed desire to remain at the club, despite speculations of an exit at the end of the season.

The Spaniard signed a new two-year extension at the Cityzens last summer, potentially keeping him until 2027, but has been linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks.

The former Barcelona manager has enjoyed an extensively impressive time in England, winning multiple accolades including a historic treble in the 2022-23 season.

Speaking ahead of Man City’s clash against West Ham United this weekend, Guardiola reiterated his desire to stay, although he did not confirm if he would see out his new contract at the club.

“I’m happy here, I want to stay here. What can I say? Always results decide”, Guardiola stated.

“When it is the (end of the) chapter the club will choose the best one to continue this incredible period in Man City.

“There have been rumours in the last years many, many times but I want to stay here. At the end of the season, we’ll see.

“I’m excited because there is a margin to improve, to do it better. That is what I like”, he continued.

Man City endured a difficult spell in the last campaign, losing out on their title defense to Liverpool and ending the season without a major trophy.

However, the club have improved this season and could move top of the standings with victory over the Hammers on Saturday.

“Last season was a really, really tough season and I didn’t give up and I was there. This season is much better in terms of many things I’m seeing and still I’m here”, the Man City manager added.

“It depends on my feelings and my feeling right now is good. That’s why I want to continue.

“It’s going to change? Maybe, I don’t know. But what I’m feeling now is not (that). What I’m feeling now is with the players I want to continue as much, and as long, as possible.”
