Rohl backs Rangers to attack Old Firm clash with full belief

Rangers kept the pressure on at the top. They battled. They held firm. And they walked off Ibrox with three priceless points.

The 2-1 win over St Mirren felt like momentum. It also cut the gap.Now they sit six points behind Hearts and just three off Celtic.

The derby is around the corner. The temperature is rising. Midfielder Thelo Aasgaard struck in the 39th minute.

Then Emmanuel Fernandez powered home another after the restart.

Rangers looked in control, moving through the gears. Late drama followed.

Jack Butland saved a penalty from Marcus Fraser in the 75th minute.

Mikael Mandron then pulled one back. But Rangers dug in and protected the lead until the final whistle.

Meanwhile, Celtic slipped to defeat at Motherwell. Suddenly, the title race feels wide open again.And Danny Rohl liked what he saw.

“Our belief is there,” he said. “When we look at the moment, except from the 2-1 defeat (at Hearts), we took a lot of points.

“We had some great performances, we had also some performances where not everything was good.

“Now we go with confidence. It’s a huge game, but we are prepared for this. I think this is what we want to see.”

Rohl wants Rangers to compete. To tackle hard. To press high.

And to stay composed when the rivalry heats up.

“In this game it’s important that we are strong. I think it’s important that the ref is strong in this game as well.

“If we do this, we will have a fantastic game.

“I think it was a good finish to the year and now we have hopefully a good start in the year.”

Attention now shifts toward the January window. There may be movement. But Rohl remains patient.

“I think we know the window is not easy, but we are on front foot,” he responded when asked about signings.

“What it means at the end, let’s see. We cannot influence everything, but we are at the moment clear.

“We know that in some positions, we have to wait for the right timing.

“I see that we are really convinced of what we want to do.”
