Michael Carrick has warned Manchester United against complacency when they face Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Red Devils are brimming with confidence following two ‘big’ wins under the caretaker manager and now welcome the Cottagers to Old Trafford tomorrow as massive favourites.
Carrick has guided the team to victories over Manchester City and Arsenal in his first two games in charge with the Red Devils now in fourth-place on the standings and in pole position to secure a return to European football.
Speaking during Friday’s prematch press conference, the former Middlesbrough manager says the players must avoid being overly confident as they head into the clash.
“I think the boys are in a good place going into the game. It’s a tough game, tough challenge, I think Marco has got Fulham into a really good team”, Carrick stated.
“All of a sudden it is a different game, it’s Fulham, just because we are at home, taking anything for granted is bang out of order.”
Manchester United will be without the in-form Patrick Dorgu for the clash after then versatile defender suffered an injury that has sidelined him for around 10 weeks.
The Denmark international had scored in both of the club’s matches since the arrival of Carrick and will be a huge miss.
“Pat unfortunately is going to be out for a period of time. It’s disappointing because he has had such a great couple of weeks”, Carrick added.
“We weren’t sure if it was cramp or something more serious and at the moment it looks something more serious. It’ll be a few weeks. How many weeks, we’ll have to wait and see.”
Both sides played a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage in the reverse fixture earlier in the season, but a win for the hosts this time around would consolidate their position in the top four of the Premier League standings.
