Rosenior hails Chelsea’s display after impressive win at Wolves

Liam Rosenior has expressed satisfaction with Chelsea’s performance as they bounced back from midweek disappointment in the EFL Cup to beat Wolves 3-1 on Saturday.

The Blues were favourites into the clash against the league’s bottom team and they showed brilliant football to record an impressive victory at the Molineux.

England international Cole Palmer was the star of the show with a superb first half hat-trick, scoring twice from the spot and adding another clinical finish in the 38th minute.

“In the first half we played some outstanding football – combination play, we tweaked the system a little bit and the lads took to it so, so well”, Rosenior stated after the match.

“Then you want to kick on in the second half, but credit to Wolves – every team in the Premier League is a good team.

“Our level wasn’t at the level it was in the first half, which was disappointing.”

Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare pulled one back for the hosts, who now looked destined to suffer relegation to the second division after their 19th league defeat in 25 matches.

Palmer made history on the day, becoming the first player in Premier League history to score three first half hat-tricks.

He also became the Chelsea player with the most hat-trick in the Premier League, after netting his fourth treble since joining the club.

“But when you come away from home in the Premier League, you take it, you move on, and focus on another difficult game on Tuesday.”

Chelsea return to action on Tuesday when they welcome Leeds United to Stamford Bridge, hoping to continue their perfect start to life in the league under Rosenior.

The former Strasbourg manager has guided the Blues to four successive wins in the league since his arrival earlier in the year to replace Enzo Maresca.
