Bernardo Silva lauds Manchester City’s EFL Cup final win over Arsenal

Manchester City captain Bernardo Silva was impressed with his teammate’s performance following their League Cup final triumph over Arsenal on Sunday.

City returned to Wembley after their defeat to Crystal Palace in last season’s FA Cup final, nut claimed a 2-0 win over the Gunners this time around to seal their ninth League Cup title.

Silva, who will leave the club at the end of the season, lifted the trophy for the fifth time and for a first time as captain and has applauded his side for their brilliant outing on Sunday.

“Finals are always a special game where you have to deal with your emotions well”, Silva stated.

“The game is normally decided on small details. Today the performance was really good from the team. To be able to have that feeling that yes, we can do it, it’s huge for the future of this Club.

Youngster Nico O’Reilly ran the show, scoring both goals to lift Manchester City to victory over Arsenal.

The 21-year-old benefited from an error from Kepa Arrizabalaga to open the scoring in the 60th minute, before he grabbed a second with another header four minutes later.

City withstood Arsenal’s late pressure to seal a 2-0 win and clinch their fifth EFL title under Guardiola.

“I’m really proud, really happy for us and for them [younsters]. Hopefully we can still fight for the next two trophies in the last months of the season”, Silva continued.

“For sure, Wembley is always special. Giving a trophy back to the Club and to the fans is always very special. So we’re really happy.”

Manchester City’s next target will be catching up with Arsenal in the Premier League race, with a nine point difference between both sides at the moment, although City have a game in hand.
