Doue hails France’s performance after dominant win over Colombia

Desire Doue was delighted with France’s display as they claimed a 3–1 win over Colombia in Maryland, marking their second victory of the international break.

The French national team had defeated Brazil 2-1 in their previous outing and manager Didier Deschamps rested several of the team that started that clash, giving opportunities to fringe players to impress.

Doue, making his just his sixth appearance for the national team, scored twice on the night while Inter Milan forward Marcus Thuram completed scoring with his first goal for France since 2023.

Speaking after the encounter, Paris Saint-Germain forward Doue was impressed with the team’s overall display as they sealed a convincing win in a big boost to their World Cup preparations.

“It was a good win, it wasn’t easy,” Doue stated.

“It’s a really proud moment and I’m very happy.”

France entered the encounter with a much-changed lineup while Colombia started the bulk of the players that played against Croatia in their last friendly match.

Doue opened the scoring in the 30th minute after his strike was deflected into the net by Daniel Munoz, before Thuram headed in a superb delivery from Maghnes Akliouche to double the advantage before the interval.

Both goalscorers combined for France’s third, scored by Doue in the second half to put them 3-0 up in the encounter.

Jaminton Campaz scored a consolation for Colombia, before Kylian Mbappe, who had come on in the second half, had an effort cleared off the line.

France sealed a 3-1 win, boosting their morale with only a few months until the commencement of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“We’ve had two good warm-up matches before the World Cup. It was important to win today and that’s what we did. We played with intensity and did some good things. We need to keep it going like that”, Doue concluded.
