Sanchez hails Chelsea’s big FA Cup win against Leeds United

Robert Sanchez struck a positive tone after helping Chelsea FC grind out a narrow but vital FA Cup victory over Leeds United at Wembley.

In a tightly contested clash, Chelsea got off to a fast start with an early breakthrough, and from there, they dug deep defensively to see out the result.

Sanchez, however, was quick to highlight that the clean sheet was a collective effort rather than an individual display.

“A clean sheet and a win – it’s massive,” he stated. “There were a couple of good saves, but it doesn’t come from just me.

“There were a couple of blocks from our defenders; they kept heading the ball away and fighting for each other, as I said. We scored the early goal, and we defended well.

“I remember from the start of the season we kept nine or ten clean sheets in 15 games, so I think it’s good to get back into a positive mood with another clean sheet.

“Now we have five games to go, and we’ll do our best.”

Following a disappointing midweek setback against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League, the victory served as an ideal response.

Switching gears from league frustration to cup determination, Chelsea showed renewed focus and intensity on the big stage.

The shot-stopper acknowledged the importance of bouncing back quickly and delivering for the fans, especially in a knockout competition where momentum is everything.

“We reacted very well,” he said. “We know that now it’s on us to perform well, to try to get to a final and win a final.

“If we perform like today, we know it’s possible to do all that. The supporters were brilliant today.”

With the business end of the season approaching, the Blues appear to be finding their defensive rhythm again.

As the stakes rise and matches come thick and fast, performances like this could prove to be a turning point in their push for silverware.
