Bayern Munich suffer Alphonso Davies injury blow ahead of Wolfsburg clash

Bayern Munich have been dealt a major injury blow ahead of the closing stages of the 2025-26 season, with Alphonso Davies set for a spell on the sidelines.

The Canadian international came on in the 67th minute of Bayern Munich’s 1-1 draw with Oaris Saint-Germain in midweek for Josip Stanisic and went on to provide the assist for Harry Kane’s stoppage-time goal.

However, he appeared to pick up an injury during the clash and further diagnosis has now revealed how long he would spend on the sidelines.

“Alphonso Davies suffered a muscle injury in his left hamstring during Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Paris Saint-Germain, as confirmed by an examination by the FC Bayern medical unit. The Canada international will therefore be out of action for several weeks”, a statement on Bayern’s official website read.

Davies’ recent injury now puts him at the risk of missing the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is only over a month away as Canada co-host the tournament alongside the United States and Mexico.

Canada have been placed in group B of the tournament and will begin their campaign against Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 12, before playing further games against Qatar and Switzerland.

Davies only recently returned from an ACL injury to his right knee and has suffered another hamstring injury already this season.

The 25-year-old has played nine times across all competitions since returning from that hamstring problem and featured in both legs of the Champions League semifinal clash against PSG.

Bayern suffered a 6-5 aggregate defeat in the clash, as their wait for an European final since they lifted the trophy in 2020 goes on.

The Bundesliga champions face Wolfsburg in the league on Saturday, before concluding their season Stuttgart in the German Cup final on May 23.
