Guardiola to leave Manchester City at the end of season

Pep Guardiola is reportedly set to leave Manchester City at the end of the season, putting an end to a decade of success at the club.

The Spaniard signed a two-year extension last year and has recently hinted at fulfilling his contractual obligations, which would keep him at the club until the end of next season.

However, reports have now emerged that the former Barcelona manager would depart the Etihad Stadium after Manchester City’s clash against Aston Villa in their final home game of the season.

Guardiola joined the Cityzens back in 2016 and has enjoyed a hugely successful spell in the English top-flight, bringing long-term success at the club.

Manchester City grew into a dominant force in England during his reign and were also well respected in Europe.

The 55-year-old won six Premier League titles during his time in charge and also guided Manchester City to a historic treble back in 2022-23, when they won their first-ever UEFA Champions League title by defeating Inter Milan 1-0 in the final.

Guardiola won 20 trophies in 10 years, with City also winning the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2023.

The former Barcelona coach also won the Premier League manager of the season on five occasions and was named the best FIFA coach of the year in the 2022-23 season.

This season, City have already won the domestic double, after their triumphs in the EFL Cup and also the FA Cup.

Nico O’Reilly scored twice as Manchester City beat Arsenal 2-0 in the Carabao Cup final back in March, while Antoine Semenyo’s stunning goal sealed a 1-0 win over Chelsea in the FA Cup final last weekend.

Guardiola will now take charge of the club for the final time against Aston Villa on Sunday at the Etihad, wirh rhe club already preparing a proper farewell for the legendary coach.
