Paul Pogba has backed Michael Carrick to lead Manchester United back to the peak of English football following recent difficult spells.
The Red Devils have endured difficult campaigns in recent seasons and even ended up in 15th place in the 2024-25 season under Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim.
However, Carrick took over in January and oversaw a remarkable turnaround which saw them finish in third position behind Arsenal and Manchester City on the standings.
Manchester United also sealed a return to the UEFA Champions League after a two-year absence and Pogba believes Carrick is the man to lead them back to their glory days.
I think Manchester United will win in the next years, they’re going to be champions of the Premier League,” Pogba revealed in an interview.
“If Arsenal can be champions then Manchester United will definitely be champion. It’s a big statement. No disrespect but I believe they will.”
Manchester United will now be looking to challenge for the Premier League title next season as they look to usurp defending champions Arsenal, as well as Manchester City and Liverpool.
They have already begun reinforcements after the departure of Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, with another Brazilian Ederson, set to come in.
Manchester United are also eyeing several other top targets as they look to rebuild the squad ahead of next season.
Pogba, who played alongside Carrick at Manchester United, has backed his former midfield partner to guide the club to glory.
“In the next five years they’re going to win. Maybe I went a bit far, I will say in the next three years. In my opinion I think they can make it”, Pogba added.
Manchester United will begin their 2026-27 Premier League campaign with a clash against newly-promoted Hull City on August 22, hoping to put in a strong challenge for the league title.
