Casemiro set for emotional Man United exit after trophy-laden spell

Casemiro is set to bring the curtain down on his Manchester United career this summer, with the Brazilian midfielder scheduled to depart Old Trafford when his contract expires.

After four impactful seasons in red, the legendary enforcer leaves behind a legacy defined by leadership, silverware and decisive moments on the big stage.

Since arriving in August 2022, Casemiro quickly established himself as a cornerstone of the United midfield.

Across 146 appearances, the former Brazil captain has scored 21 goals, many of them arriving at pivotal moments when the team needed composure and steel.

His aggressive edge, tactical intelligence and knack for rising to the occasion soon made him a firm favourite with the Old Trafford faithful.

Momentum followed almost immediately. Casemiro played a crucial role in ending United’s trophy drought, delivering a dominant display and scoring in the 2023 Carabao Cup final victory over Newcastle United.

He added further silverware to his collection in 2024, lifting the Emirates FA Cup and underlining his status as a serial winner even in the latter stages of his career.

As the season races towards its conclusion, supporters will have the chance to show their appreciation during United’s final home game against Nottingham Forest, a fitting stage to honour a player who has consistently embodied commitment and professionalism.

“I will carry Manchester United with me throughout my entire life,” the Brazilian said.

“From the first day that I walked out at this beautiful stadium, I felt the passion of Old Trafford and the love that I now share with our supporters for this special club.

“It is not time to say goodbye; there are many more memories to create during the next four months.

“We still have a lot to fight for together; my complete focus will, as always, remain on giving my everything to help our club to succeed.”

With the final stretch of the campaign still to be played, Casemiro’s focus remains firmly on finishing strongly.

Yet when the final whistle eventually blows on his United career, it will mark the departure of a player whose influence extended far beyond the stats sheet.
