Guirassy shrugs off chaos as Dortmund claim victor against Atalanta

Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy reflected on an eventful night as the Bundesliga side claimed a crucial 2-0 victory over Atalanta in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League play-off.

Before a ball was even kicked, Dortmund’s preparations were thrown off course by heavy delays, forcing a frantic pre-match routine.

Yet, once the whistle blew, Guirassy and his teammates quickly found their rhythm and seized control of the contest.

“We were stuck in traffic for an hour and 15 minutes, so we had to get changed very quickly in the dressing room. We didn’t even have ten minutes to prepare,” Guirassy told Prime.

“But we got off to a good start.

“Today, I scored again with my head after a very good cross from Julian Ryerson.

“I think that’s a perfect start to these Champions League play-offs,” he concluded.

Despite the disrupted build-up, Dortmund showed composure and cutting edge, laying down a strong marker ahead of the return leg and putting themselves firmly in control of the tie.
