Tudor confirms Spence absence with injury for crucial Palace showdown

Igor Tudor has revealed that Djed Spence will miss Tottenham Hotspur clash against Crystal Palace on Thursday night after failing to recover in time from a calf injury.

The England international recently returned from an injury layoff and returned to action in the defeat to Newcastle United last month.

He also featured in the North London derby defeat to Arsenal, marking his 22nd league appearance of the season but was deemed to have suffered another minor injury since then.

Spence missed Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage and will now sit out this particular clash once more, although it is expected that he returns to action against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League next week.

Speaking during the pre-match press conference, Tudor, who is searching for his first win since taking charge of the club last month, revealed that Spence will miss the showdown.

“No, Djed is out. Not ready for the game tomorrow. We hope for Champions League game”, Tudor said.

Tottenham have been hit with multiple injury worries throughout the campaign and continue to still miss several of their key players.

The likes of Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison remain sidelined with injury, while Mohammed Kudus could return to action in April.

Meanwhile, Tudor is already under pressure at the club after losing both of his first two games in charge.

The former Juventus manager suffered a crushing 4-1 defeat to Arsenal in his first game at the club, before suffering another 2-1 defeat to Fulham last weekend.

He will be hoping for an upturn in result when he takes charge of his third London derby since taking over against Crystal Palace on Thursday night.

“No, not yet, Kevin (Danso) is back, last game already, so he’s back. No other news, there is no other news”, Tudor added.

Tottenham already find themselves in a battle for survival and must defeat Crystal Palace in their Thursday night clash to avoid dropping into the bottom three.
