Nuno confident of West Ham United’s survival after Crystal Palace stalemate

Nuno Espírito Santo believes West Ham United will steer clear of relegation this season following their 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace on Monday night.

The Hammers moved two points clear of Tottenham Hotspur in the drop zone after sealing a valuable point against the Eagles, a result that ultimately sealed Wolves spot in the EFL Championship next season.

West Ham are now up to 33 points with just five games left to play and have the control of their own fate.

“Every day is important and it is going to be a fight until the end. I think (we have the characters)”, Nuno said after the match.

“I think we’re proving that we don’t give up. We are committed. You can see today, even though it was not the perfect game for us, it was a game that we fight.

“We were organised, committed, had team spirit, the basics that I consider to keep fighting until the end. The players, they are aware and they are giving it all, so I am positive about it”, he added.

West Ham now have only five matches to determine their fate ahead of next season, starting with their next clash against Everton on Saturday.

The Hammers still have to visit Brentford and Newcastle United, while they end their season at Leeds United.

Despite having four attempts on goal in Monday’s clash, West Ham were unable to find the net and could have even snatched a win from the encounter.

“Palace defended very well. Hard to find the gaps against that back five, but (we were) better, better, better, better, and there’s also a goalkeeper that made an incredible save, so we have to credit them”, Nuno continued.
