Manchester United confirmed the first three casualties of Ruben Amorim’s squad immediately after their deserved 2-0 final day victory over ten-man Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Who are the players leaving?
Following what was perhaps their most impressive performance under Amorim since his arrival in November, Manchester United announced the departures of three of their most experienced squad members including Johnny Evans, Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof.
The trio are into the final weeks of their contracts at Old Trafford. They will become free agents when their deals expire by June 30 and will be at liberty to seal a summer move elsewhere when the transfer window opens in July.
Evans, a Premier League and Champions League winner with Man United, initially returned to his former club on a short-term deal during the 23/24 preseason to bolster squad numbers. He was later offered back-to-back one-year contracts.
Meanwhile, Eriksen, who signed for the Red Devils in 2022 after reviving his career at Brentford following a near-fatal cardiac arrest just a year prior, capped his final appearance with a goal from the penalty spot to secure victory over Villa.
As for Victor Lindelof, the Swede has proved himself a loyal servant since joining from Benfica in 2017 and he was afforded a full 90 minutes appearance by Amorim in his final game for Man United.
