Flick concerned about Pedri’s injury in Barcelona’s win over Slavia Prague

Hansi Flick has voiced concern over Pedri’s injury after the midfielder was forced off during Wednesday’s Champions League win over Slavia Prague.

The Spanish midfielder came off around the hour mark during the 4-2 win over the Czech champions on Wednesday night, which moved them closer to a top eight finish.

The 23-year-old also suffered an injury lay-off which kept him out of action for about one month last November and could face time out again on the sidelines.

Speaking after the match, Flick who was visibly worried when the midfielder came off, did not give a timeline over his return.

“It happens. I don’t know exactly now how long does it take [Pedri’s recovery]. We have to wait until tomorrow and then we’ll see, we’ll know more, but it’s no good news”, Flick said.

Barcelona sealed a 4-2 comeback win over Slavia Prague to move up to ninth on the standings.

Fermin Lopez scored twice to put Barca back in front after the hosts had taken a shock lead inside the first 10 minutes.

However, an own goal by Robert Lewandowski leveled the scores at 2-2 heading into the break.

Substitute Dani Olmo who had come on for Pedri restored the lead few minutes after his introduction, before Lewandowski scored a fourth to seal the win.

The Spanish champions now head into their final clash against Copenhagen next week, knowing that a win would move them into the top eight places.

After conceding two goals from set pieces, we came back, and that’s good. It wasn’t easy to play today. It was very cold, and Slavia played very well. They’re a physical team, with dangerous transitions and balls. We were better in the second half”, Flick added.

“It will be decided next Wednesday. First we had to win, and we have to do it again. Winning in the Champions League is very difficult, as we saw today. Then we’ll see what happens.”
