Joao Pedro relishes dream hat-trick as Chelsea defeat Aston Villa

Joao Pedro described his first Premier League hat-trick as a “dream night” after inspiring Chelsea FC to a commanding 4-1 victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park.

The Brazilian forward delivered a clinical display in front of goal, registering his first treble for the Blues and leading the charge in a dominant away performance.

After Villa struck early, Pedro quickly swung the momentum back in Chelsea’s favour with a sharp close-range equaliser.

Building on that breakthrough, the 24-year-old then gave Chelsea the lead before halftime with a delicate dink over Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, putting the visitors firmly in control heading into the break.

Chelsea kept the pressure on after the restart. Cole Palmer added a third to stretch the advantage, before Pedro completed his hat-trick by calmly finishing from Alejandro Garnacho’s squared pass to seal an emphatic 4-1 win.

Having previously featured for Watford FC and Brighton & Hove Albion earlier in his English career, Pedro admitted the moment represented the fulfilment of a long-held ambition.

“It was a dream night for me,” Pedro said. “Since I joined Chelsea, I’ve been dreaming of these moments to play for a big team and get my hat-trick – and I think it was a perfect night to get my first hat-trick.

“We just need to keep moving forward. I’m just living my dream here. I’m very grateful to everyone who has helped me on my journey.”

The striker also praised the collective effort behind the victory, highlighting how the team’s fluid attacking play helped create opportunities throughout the match.

“I think everyone was perfect,” he continued. “When the team plays like this, I will get chances. I think everyone was top.

“It was a special day; everyone did a brilliant job. We still have nine games to look forward to and fight to be in the top four.

“All my goals came from being in the right place at the right time. The team expects that from me. The goals were always important.”

Pedro later celebrated the milestone with the Blues’ travelling supporters and revealed that the celebration had some inspiration from the club captain.

“I did a bit of Samba in front of the fans!” The forward joked. “Reece told me to because today was a special day!”

The result keeps Chelsea firmly in the hunt for a top-four finish as the Premier League season heads into its decisive final stretch.
