Galatasaray offer huge bonus before Liverpool’s Champions League clash

Galatasaray are ramping up motivation ahead of their decisive UEFA Champions League showdown with Liverpool, reportedly promising a massive financial reward if they secure progression.

The Turkish champions carry a slender 1–0 aggregate lead into the second leg at Anfield, putting pressure on Liverpool to respond on home soil.

As the tie enters its defining phase, the Turkish top-flight’s hierarchy is pulling every lever to inspire the squad.

Reports from Turkish media indicate that a staggering €5 million bonus has been set aside for the dressing room should they eliminate Liverpool and advance to the quarter-finals.

Such progression would also guarantee an additional €12.5 million in prize money, adding further stakes to an already high-intensity encounter.

Momentum has been with Galatasaray domestically, with the squad previously receiving €2.5 million in bonuses following key victories over Besiktas and Istanbul Basaksehir, results that strengthened their grip at the top of the league table.

Head coach Okan Buruk has already set the tone for the upcoming clash, urging his players to believe in their ability to finish the job.

“Congratulations to all of you. This victory has given us a great advantage in the race for the league championship, but it’s not over yet,” the coach said.

“Enjoy today, tomorrow our target is the Champions League quarter-finals.

“A very difficult match awaits us. But I have faith in you. We beat Liverpool twice here, we can do it there too.”

However, despite the confidence and incentives, Galatasaray face significant setbacks heading into the tie.

Key defender Davinson Sanchez will miss the match due to suspension after accumulating yellow cards, leaving a gap in their defensive line.

In addition, the club will be without travelling supporters at Anfield after UEFA imposed a ban following fan disturbances during a previous tie against Juventus in Turin.

This means the Reds will benefit from a fully packed home crowd, with over 61,000 fans expected to create a daunting atmosphere for the visitors and provide a crucial edge for Arne Slot’s side.

As kickoff approaches, the tie is finely balanced. Galatasaray have the advantage on aggregate and financial motivation driving them forward, while Liverpool will rely on home support and experience to attempt a comeback. The stage is set for a thrilling Champions League battle under the Anfield lights.
