Pereira backs Nottingham Forest ahead of crucial Burnley clash

Vitor Pereira believes Nottingham Forest will be well prepared ahead of their must-win clash against Burnley in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Tricky Trees continue their battle for survival when they welcome their relegation rivals to the City Ground, aiming for victory to edge further away from the drop zone.

Forest reached the semifinals of the Europa League after defeating Porto on Thursday night and now immediately shift attention to the Premier League.

“We start preparing in the dressing room now”, Pereira said.

“After the game we discuss. We have a few minutes to celebrate but then it’s time to recover, we prefer to go in with a win because the motivation is different. We need to fight and get the three points.”

Nottingham Forest reached a first European semifinal in 42 years with a 2-1 aggregate win over FC Porto, following a 1-0 result on Thursday.

Morgan Gibbs-White scored the only goal of the game early on and it was enough to seal the victory against the Portuguese side, who were reduced to 10 men in the eighth minute after Jan Bednarek was sent off.

The reward for Forest’s progress is a clash against league rivals Aston Villa in the last four, with the aim of reaching the final after a troubled campaign.

“I have a fantastic team. It is not about the manager. It is about the team because they have the true spirit and the character. They deserve it, as do the supporters”, Pereira praised the overall performance after the match.

“The faces on the other bench are faces that I recognise. It is normal they have fire at the end. We need to suffer together and we need to feel proud of ourselves and the supporters.”

Nottingham Forest are currently 16th on the standings and welcome 19th place Burnley to City Ground on Sunday, hoping to move further away from the drop zone.
