Vitor Pereira has revealed that Elliott Anderson could leave Nottingham Forest at the end of the season amid growing speculations over his future.
The England midfielder has been tipped to move to a bigger club in the country once the summer transfer window opens, with both Manchester clubs pushing to win the race for his signature.
Anderson joined Forest from Newcastle United in 2024 for a fee of around £35 million, but could depart for almost four times that amount this summer, given how impressive he has been particularly this season.
Speaking after their 1-1 draw against Newcastle on Sunday where Anderson grabbed a late equalizer that sealed their safety, Pereira hailed the influence of the midfieldrt but is resigned to losing him in the summer.
“It’s difficult for me, and everybody, to understand what he is feeling inside of him”, Pereira said.
“I believe that he is honouring his mother, going inside the pitch and running until the last metre, until the last breath. I cannot say [whether he will stay], I don’t have the answer, I know he deserves the top of the world.”
Nottingham Forest have now survived the early relegation fears and are now set to remain in the English top flight for at least another campaign.
They already have 43 points, seven above West Ham United with just two games remaining in the Premier League season.
I know that he’s our player, and we need to enjoy him because I have worked with the top talent players, but to find a top player with this character is not easy”, Pereira added.
“I’m not thinking about the next season. I’m thinking about finishing this season in the best position that we can.
“In the warm-up, my assistants, they said to me, ‘Elliot is on fire today.’ Every time that he shot on goal, he scored”, he concluded.
Meanwhile, Anderson could play his last game for Forest in their final match this season against Bournemouth on May 24.
