Salah nears Liverpool return against Aston Villa

Liverpool boss Arne Slot has confirmed Mohamed Salah is in line to make his long-awaited return against Aston Villa on Friday night.

The Egyptian forward has been sidelined with a hamstring injury and missed Liverpool’s last two matches.

However, with only two games remaining before his expected departure as a free agent, Salah could make a brief appearance at Villa Park.

Speaking ahead of the Premier League clash, Slot revealed the Reds star is ready to rejoin the squad, although only in a limited role.

“Mo will be available for tomorrow only for a few minutes, but hopefully he can come in,” Slot said in his press conference on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have also received another timely boost with defender Ibrahima Konate back in training after recovering from a thigh issue.

The French centre-back is expected to be available for selection as the Reds continue their push to finish the season strongly.

However, Slot remained cautious over the fitness of goalkeeper Alisson Becker and attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz.

“Alisson trains with us again. Let’s see where he is [on Friday], if he is ready or has to wait for one more week,” Slot said.

On Wirtz, he added: “Stomach infection. He is on antibiotics, so let’s see if he is ready to play tomorrow.”

Furthermore, Salah’s potential return comes at an emotional stage for Liverpool supporters, with the forward edging closer to the end of his unforgettable spell at Anfield.

The 33-year-old has remained one of the club’s most influential figures in recent years, and fans will hope to see him make one final impact before the curtain closes on his Liverpool career.

As kickoff approaches, all eyes will now turn to Villa Park to see whether Salah can provide one more memorable moment in red.
