Eberechi Eze has praised Arsenal’s performance after they returned to form with a dominant 4-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in Sunday’s North London derby.
The Gunners had dropped points in their previous two league matches and had already seen their lead reduced to two points by a resurgent Manchester City in second place.
However, they produced an outstanding performance in front of their city rivals and claimed a fifth successive win in the derby.
Speaking after the victory, two-goal hero Eze praised his teammates and hopes they can build on their momentum going forward.
“We played with dominance today, with confidence and just the connection that we had on the pitch. I think it was a special performance from us and something that we can continue to build on and something to work towards our goals”, Eze revealed.
“We know what these types of games are. We know the energy that the fans are bringing and how we need to be emotionally ready for the games as well. I think we’ve done so well with that and we took advantage of that for sure.”
Eze opened the scoring in the first half, before Randal Kolo Muani equalized for the home side minutes later.
Victor Gyokeres put Arsenal back ahead and Eze grabbed his second of the game with the Gunners third with a fine finish.
There was still time for a fourth as Gyokeres held off pressure from Archie Gray to fire home in stoppage-time and seal the dominant win.
“These games are all about momentum and being in the moment. I’m just thankful to God for the opportunities that we took today. We worked so hard, we gave everything and when we perform like this it motivates us”, Eze concluded.
Arsenal will face another London rival in their next clash, this time against Chelsea, as they hope to continue their march towards the league title.
