Caicedo reaffirms commitment to Chelsea amid exit talks

Moises Caicedo has pledged his commitment to Chelsea despite recent speculations linking him with an exit from the club in the summer.

Caicedo, 24, joined the Blues in a £100 million deal in 2023, potentially rising to £115 million from Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Ecuadorian midfielder has developed into one of the best midfielders in the world since his arrival at the club, helping them to victory in the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup last season.

However, rumours have emerged in recent days linking the 24-year-old with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid, given Chelsea’s poor run of form in recent matches.

The Blues suffered an 8-2 aggregate defeat to European champions Paris Saint-Germain in their Champions League Round of 16 clash and have also lost consecutive matches in the league.

Responding to rumours of an exit, Caicedo pledged his future to Chelsea and revealed his desire to become a ‘legendary’ figure at the club.

“I’m just focused on my club right now,” Caicedo stated.

“I’ve got a contract there at my club, I want to become a legend there, God willing, and well, that’s all for now.”

Caicedo has made 139 appearances for Chelsea since 2023, including 41 across all competitions this season.

The midfielder is under contract at the club until 2031, making any likely departure very complicated given his importance to the team.

“As for the national team, I want to stay there and finish on a high note”, Caicedo concluded.

Caicedo’s focus will now be on helping Chelsea finish the season strongly, as the Blues chase qualification for next season’s Champions League.

The London club are currently sixth on the standings with 48 points, just one point behind Liverpool in fifth place, with the top-five most likely assured of qualification.
