Arsenal’s Kelly targets Women’s Champions League second-leg finish after Chelsea win

Chloe Kelly is already switching gears after lighting up the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final stage, as Arsenal Women took a crucial first-leg advantage against Chelsea Women.

Under the floodlights at Emirates Stadium, Kelly made her mark with a stunning long-range finish, firing into the bottom corner after linking up with Beth Mead.

The goal capped off a dominant display and extended Arsenal’s winning streak to ten matches across all competitions.

Reflecting on the night, Kelly couldn’t hide her excitement but quickly shifted focus to the bigger picture.

“It was so special,” she said. “These nights are amazing here at the Emirates, but we know it’s only half-time, but the girls were amazing tonight. Clinical, riding the storm when we needed to me, I enjoyed that.”

As momentum builds, Arsenal are now riding a strong wave of form.

However, in true competitive rhythm, Kelly emphasized the importance of maintaining that tempo as attention turns to domestic action.

“I think it’s important that we build energy, we build momentum and we keep striving for more,” Kelly added. “This weekend will be important, three points that we need to get. So, yes, our focus changes to the weekend at Spurs.”

With the second leg still to come, the Gunners know the tie is far from over. Yet, confidence is high within the squad, fueled by performances and the electric backing from supporters.

“I want to be part of history at this club and keep pushing for more and keep building,” Kelly concluded.

As Arsenal prepare for the decisive return leg, and a key clash against Tottenham Hotspur Women, the mission is clear: keep the momentum alive, finish the job, and continue writing history.
